Play

North Port Orchestra is a community orchestra composed of volunteer and professional musicians who enjoy an opportunity to play in a symphonic environment. Rehearsals are held in the Music Suite of North Port Performing Arts Center at 6400 W. Price Blvd. in North Port. Rehearsals are every Saturday (with the exception of holidays) from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. On concert days, dress rehearsal is at 1:00 p.m., and concerts are always on Sunday afternoons at 3:00 p.m.

Rehearsals for the 2009-2010 Season begin Saturday, October 10, 2009.

Educate

Elementary Schools
In 1989, the Orchestra's Outreach Educational Program began with the cooperation of North Port Elementary Schools. Orchestra instruments are available for rent by students. Instruction was provided by volunteer musicians. Instruction has now been assumed by the schools, but the North Port Orchestra continues to maintain and rent instruments to students for a nominal fee.

College
Every year since 1991, high school seniors from local schools who plan to study in music-related fields in college may audition before a board of qualified judges.  Winners receive $500 scholarships to attend the school of their choice.
