Maestro Sasha von Dassow
Sasha von Dassow brings his diverse sense of programming and deep commitment to the North Port community. Sasha is a performing symphonic cellist with the Florida Orchestra in Tampa Bay, a position he has held for over 15 years. He is also an active chamber musician with four albums to his credit ranging from serious to rock and roll to music for children along with his string quartet MOB - Musicians Out of the Box. As a music instructor, he is on faculty of the State College of Florida, and maintains a busy private studio in the Sarasota area.
North Port Orchestra
North Port Orchestra was founded in 1983 by a handful of local residents who were interested in playing music for their own pleasure as well as for the community. St. Paul's Presbyterian Church served as the Orchestra's home until November 2001 when we moved to the Music Suite adjacent to the Performing Arts Center on the North Port High School Campus. The Orchestra is composed of amateur and professional musicians. Programs include classical, contemporary and popular music. The goal of North Port Orchestra is to promote charitable and educational activities in North Port, Florida. North Port Orchestra is happy to celebrate our 27th year with our audience and friends and look forward to a wonderful 2011-2012 Series. We hope you enjoy performances featuring talented artists along with great music of all kinds in our five-concert season.
